| Course Objective : |
At the end of the Shiatsu
Foundation Course, participants will be able to:
• Give a Shiatsu therapy session lasting
90 minutes from head to toes.
• Apply proper pressure on specific points
on the surfaces of the human body to eliminate
and stimulate the body’s natural self –curative
abilities.
• Apply different speeds and degrees of
pressure to suit the part of the body being treated.
• Use different styles and types of pressure
using Thumbs, Two Fingers, Five Fingers, Palms
and Bare Feet
• Design an effective Shiatsu Therapy program
for different clients with a range of ailments
from arthritis to lower back aches to constipation
to menstrual cycle to knee pain to heel pain and
more.
• Understand the benefits and limitations
of Shiatsu
• Student will have knowledge and understanding
of the anatomy and physiology of the body
Emphasis in the Foundation stage is to equip
students with the techniques of Traditional Japanese
Massage. This is a deep tissue massage and can
be performed with clothes on. A brief overview
of East –Asian philosophy is covered but
this will in no way be adequate to do proper Oriental
Diagnosis, Tsubo locations, Tonification and Sedation. |
| Course Outline |
Students will receive clear and
well-structured training on Theory & Practical
aspects of Shiatsu covering the following: Yin
and Yang Concepts, 5 Element Theory, Oriental
Diagnosis, Contra indications, Client consultations
and Head to Toe Shiatsu techniques. |

Vascular system
Other systems
Lymphatic system, Neurological system, endocrine
system Respiratory system, digestive system, genitourinary
system and reproductive system covers the structure
and function of the organs of the system and recognize
the cause and effect of the diseases and disorder
Massage:
Client consultation’ knowledge of contraindication,
draping procedures, hygiene procedures, Know the
massage technique application and the area that
is worked on. Knowledge of infrared it’s
uses and precaution. |
| Course Requirement: |
Case studies :
There will be a total of 5 clients for the case
study. 4 treatments will be administered on each
client, with the full consultation process, use
of massage technique, aftercare and home advice
to be demonstrated for each of these treatments |
