Anatomy and Physiology
Facial Bones & Muscles
With aid of diagrams the position and action of
24 facial muscles.
With aid of diagrams the position of bones of
cranium and face
Skin
Explain Structure and function of epidermis, dermis
and adipose tissue. Explain Melanocytes. General
skin disorders e.g.; vitiligo, chloasma, ephilides,
port wine, lentigo and Naevae Recognize skin disease,
skin cancer and skin types.
Makeup Techniques
Pre-makeup procedure – removal of makeup,
cleanse, tone and moisturize; Demonstrate the
use and sterilisation of equipment; identify face
shapes and features and apply the appropriate
correction for face, nose, eyes, lips etc, recognize
skin tones and choose the right base colour; camouflage
techniques for dark eye circles, uneven pigmentation,
spots etc; Demonstrate correct use of foundation,
powder, blusher, eyeshadows, eyeliner, mascara,
lip liner, lipstick; work within time limits acceptable
to industry; client’s record.
Cosmetic Science
The sources and use of emulsions, emulsigfying
agents, oils, fats and waxes etc; the different
between cleansing milks/cream, lotions, day or
night cream, eye cream, neck cream, body lotion,
toner, astringent etc; the use and main ingredients
in nail products
and paraffin wax, makeup cosmetics, waxes, mask
ingredients, AHAs and the effects of natural ingredients
eg. Fruits, dairy products, tea bags etc
Core Subjects
Professional ethics, first aid and salon safety,
hygiene and sterilization, client handling and
business studies |
| Course Requirement: |
Case studies:
There will be a total of 5 clients for the case
study. 4 treatments will be administered on each
client, with the full consultation process, use
of massage technique, aftercare and home advice
to be demonstrated for each of these treatments
The following evidence must be documented: client
consultation, medical history,
Skin analysis, overall profile of client, treatment
plan showing cosmetics used;
Home care advice, overall conclusion of the results
of the treatment to be monitored by the lecturer
and marked by the examiner
Theory: Two hour written
paper covering all aspects of the syllabus and
core subjects
Practical:
30 minutes to cover: cleanse. Skin analysis. Makeup
Oral questions at the discretion of the examiner |
